We are one day closer to the return of the One who will reward us at His coming, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

What a true blessing it is to know there is NOTHING we can do to earn our salvation. As Paul says, “It is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). But once we have received that gift of salvation, God’s word makes it clear that we have some work to do. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesian 2:10). Part of that work, as Paul says, is “rightly dividing the word of truth”. Paul was a tentmaker by trade, and the term “rightly dividing” means: to cut straight, so the pieces fit together correctly. I think Paul is trying to tell us, we need to know the word of God so that we don’t have gaps in our tents! So keep up the good work, family. The One we are working for is coming soon!

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is the Light of the world, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5

This is certainly an encouraging passage for the Body of Christ, knowing the times in which we are living. Because of our new life in Jesus, we have the promise that these dark days will not “overtake” us, and we will be saved from the “sudden destruction” coming “like a thief in the night” (vs. 2-3). But that is not true for those who have not trusted in the Lord as their Savior, and are still wandering in the darkness. For them, the Day of the Lord will come like a thief, and “as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape” (v.3). Let’s remember, God has given us the “light of life” (John 8:12), and we have the opportunity to shine it on others, that they, too, may escape from the darkness.

Lord, help each one of us be Your light in the world, on our Mission every day! God bless you all!

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is our strength and power, the Lord Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:10-13

There can be no doubt about it, we are living in some pretty “evil” days. But God has not left us unprotected. He has given us His armor. Unlike David, who couldn’t put on the huge, bulky armor he was given to fight Goliath, our armor is custom made by the Lord Himself! It is spiritual armor that gives us strength, power, and the ability to stand against anything our enemy, the devil, may throw at us. And it is “put on” when we take the time every day to be with the One who made it for us. Don’t let your armor sit on the shelf. Let the Word of God equip you for what ever may come your way. “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18).

We are definitely one day closer to the coming of our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” – John 5:22-23

Just in the last week we have witnessed how far man will go to turn away from the Lord. Man has now “created” an “artificial intelligence Jesus”! And if that wasn’t bad enough, they also are working on rewriting the Bible with an AI computer program, to come up with a new religion that is, to quote them, “actually correct”! As Indiana Jones would say, “They don’t know what they’ve got there.” I believe they have crossed the line. God will not let this go much longer, for He has said, “I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols” (Isaiah 42:8). We will have to wait and see what the Lord will do. But there is one thing that is absolutely certain: we ARE one day closer to the coming of our Savior!

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is the bread of life, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

Have you ever been so hungry or thirsty that almost anything sounded good? So you go to the refrigerator, and you desperately look for ANYTHING to satisfy your pang. But if you don’t open the door to look inside, you will never be filled.

Do you ever hunger or thirst for the things of God? Jesus said, “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). Job knew what that meant, for he said, “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12). We have been given an abundant resource to satisfy our all spiritual needs. God’s Word. But if we want to be filled, we have to open it.

Lord, give us the hunger and thirst for Your Word, so we may be filled with You on our Mission every day! Amen.

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who saved us to serve, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:4-10

In John 9:4, Jesus said, “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work”. We can see the shade on the window of the world is just about pulled all the way down. The night is almost here. God has given each one of us great opportunities to work in these exciting times, and He prepared us for it, “in advance”. He has blessed us with one more day to serve Him. I pray you are encouraged. With Him, we can do this! Let’s go to work!

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is “full of grace and truth”, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14

We may all be aware of the familiar accounts of people in God’s Word, like Noah and the ark, Moses and the Red Sea, Joshua and the walls of Jericho, David and Goliath, and too many others to name. But never forget, for every “famous” name, there have been countless others that God has used to bring the message of His love, grace and truth to the world. And that includes you! As I often mention, when the book of Acts ends, it kind of leaves us hanging, wondering what the rest of the story is. That’s because it isn’t finished! The Lord has been recording the rest of it in heaven, and it includes each one of us. One day we will all get to hear how God has used you and me, in ways we could never imagine, to bring Him glory and praise for all eternity. Keep your eyes on Him! He isn’t finished with us yet.

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is our Rock, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” – Luke 6:46-49

When Jesus said, “Why do you call me Lord and don’t do what I say?”, He was emphasizing how important it is to actually put what we say we believe into practice. Those who do will be like a house built on a rock. Those who don’t, like a house with no foundation. Doing the will of God doesn’t just automatically happen after we’ve placed our faith in Jesus. We have to first learn what His will is, and then do it! Living in obedience to what the Lord says is not easy. It takes time and effort. But always remember, that when we are walking in obedience to His Word, He will always lead us on “level” and solid ground. The devil is pulling out all the stops in our world today to throw us off in our walk with God. Let’s not forget to remain steadfast in our devotion to the teachings of the One we call our “Lord”.

Father, fill us each day with Your Spirit, that we might do Your will by following Your Word, and walk on level ground. Amen!

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who is our ultimate Helper, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help.” – Psalm 40:1

There’s a story of a man who died at the controls of his small plane. His wife took over the controls and desperately radioed for help. But the authorities who picked up her distress call were not able to reach her because she kept changing channels. She ended up crash landing and barely survived. How often do we cry out to God for help, but switch channels before His message comes through? We turn to other sources for help, look to them for guidance, and we “crash”. Don’t switch channels when you call on God for His help. He hears you and will ultimately answer your call.

Lord, help us to trust in You for all our needs, even as we wait for Your answer. Thank You for hearing our calls to You and for being our true source of help at all times. Amen.

We are one day closer to the coming of the One who has given us an eternal inheritance, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Keep looking up!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” – 1 Peter 1:3-5

We hear the “leaders” of today make statements like, “You will own nothing and be happy”. But what else would you expect from people who are following after “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4)? We know that our arch enemy came “to steal, and kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). Thankfully, we are “not of this world” (John 17:16), and we have been given “everything that we need for life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3) while we are here on the earth. And not only that, as “citizens of heaven” (Philippians 3:20) and co-heirs with Christ, we have an inheritance that is “kept in heaven”, waiting for the day when our Redeemer comes and claims everyone that belongs to Him, on that soon coming, great and glorious day of our removal from this world! O, Happy Day!
