“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6).
With everything that is happening in our world, and all the holiday festivities ramping up, it might be easy to forget all we have to be thankful for.
As we get caught up in all the activities we engage in, we often take the basic everyday blessings of life for granted. Thus, we need to be reminded that the Bible shows us at least three basic reasons for which to give thanks.
First, we can be thankful for God’s grace.
“We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 4:14-15). God has forgiven us because Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and we have received the promise of eternal life, all because of His grace.
Then there are God’s gifts.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17). Every natural ability, our personalities, our character, are put into us by God’s own design. “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3).
Finally, there is God’s goodness.
From this source comes the sunshine and rain, food and clothing, our health and life itself. “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” “I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord” (Psalm 116:12; 17).
This Thanksgiving, let’s call upon the name of the Lord, and tell Him how thankful we are for every one of His rich blessings.“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

Why have I been invited to this?

By believing in Jesus, He reserves a special place for you in His Father’s house where we will all celebrate the Wedding Banquet together!
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.”– John 14:2-3
“I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one on Me, so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom.” – Luke 22:29-30
Can I be sure this is true? Yes! You can trust the One who loves you, and gave His life for you.
“But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” – Romans 5:8
“I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” – 1 John 5:13
Why is this important? Because it’s the only way to be saved from the penalty of our sin. And sadly, there are people who will not reserve their place by responding to the invitation, because they simply don’t believe it.
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 12:4
“Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.”– John 3:18
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
How can I return my R.S.V.P.?
How do you reserve your place at this Wedding Banquet? By believing and trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross for the forgiveness of all your sins, and His resurrection from the dead, proving He is our Lord and Savior. Memorial Day is a day we should be thinking about all those who have died for the freedom we have in our country, at least for now.
And although each one of those deaths is so vitally important to us, there are two deaths we must be “thinking about” every day.
Christ’s death, and ours.
We are all thankful for Jesus going to the cross in order for our sin debt to be paid so that we can, by faith in His finished work, receive the gift of eternal life. But we must not forget that when He died, WE died with Him. We died with Him in order that we could also be raised with Him to “walk in a new way of life” (Romans 6:4). He has given His life to us. We have been given this new life because He wants us to live it! This is a truth we sadly ignore all too often, and its consequences are always disastrous.
Paul writes, “So if you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3).
Now, Paul isn’t saying we should live a “hidden” life that no one sees. The life that God wants us to show is Christ’s life! We are supposed to die to the old life that was focused on the ways of this world. Paul makes that very clear.
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” (Colossians 3:5-9).
Right now you’re probably saying, “I’ve read this all before, but it’s impossible for me to do this!” You’re right, you can’t. Living the new life can only come from a renewed mind that is “Set…on things above”. Peter says, God “has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (2 Peter 3-4).
No matter how you may want to look at it, we are living in a world of corruption. God has commanded us to live apart from it, and He’s told us specifically what we are to do. But in order to do so, we must surrender our will to His.
“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
“That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. ‘In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:17-32).
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
Lord, help us to always remember these two deaths. These we must NEVER forget.

One day, Jesus was asked by an expert in the Law, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus answered by giving him two. He said to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength”. He also included, “The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:30-31).
It wasn’t very long after this encounter that Jesus made these commandments very personal for his disciples. During his last meal with them, Jesus said, “By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). But before the meal ended He got even more specific when he told them, “If you love me you will keep my commands” (John 14:15).
So, what was Jesus trying to get across to them? Let’s go back to the greatest commandment. Jesus said we are to love the Lord with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL your mind, and ALL your strength, then, in turn, to truly love others. It’s sad to say, but I think we are living in a time when it’s getting hard to see our love for the Lord lived out in ALL we do. But Jesus did warn us of this, when he said, “The love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). Dare I say, we are becoming “cold” in our desire to keep His commands.
Why do I say this? Well, if people are being honest, many will admit they have seen, let’s call it, the “attitudes” of the people they come into contact with, becoming somewhat less than loving, and in some cases even unloving. Not to mention the people showing hatred.
Now, I know many will point the finger of blame at all the “stuff” that’s been going on for the last couple of years. But does that give us, as believers in Christ, an excuse to let it affect US the same way it affects unbelievers? I must say, at times it’s hard to distinguish between the two. To put it another way, WE’VE become the proverbial frog in pot. The heat and the pressure of the world is killing the love the Lord commands us to express, and in truth, this has been happening for much longer than the last couple of years.
The important question is, how can we correct this trend? The answer is, we need heart surgery. In Revelation 2, in His very first letter to the churches, Jesus tells the believers in Ephesus, they had left their “first love” (v.4). To correct that condition, He instructs them to “Repent and do the things you did at first” (v.5). We need a heart change. For us in the church today, this change needs to be done in two ways.
First, in our individual relationships with the Lord. How is your love relationship with Jesus doing? Are you being faithful and obedient to Him by spending time with Him in His word, in prayer, and in “Biblical” fellowship? If not, repent and do the things you did at first.
Second, in our relationship together as the church, the Bride of Christ, that He is coming for very soon. If we desire to be the church the Lord wants us to be today, we need to remind ourselves of what we are supposed to be doing as the body of Christ. Remember, we are to “follow His commands”. A good starting point would be to take another look at the church when it began, and remind ourselves of those basic tenants of church life.
When the church first began, we read that, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer…They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:42; 46-47).
Then the Apostle Paul writes to the church in Corinth, “When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up” (1 Corinthians 14:26). We are to be in a “Biblical” relationship with others in the church so that we can become the connected body the Lord wants us to be, built up in LOVE, “as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:16).
Don’t just flip this off thinking you’ve “got it”. This may seem “basic”, but we need to be reminded of it often, or we WILL forget it. This is how we get the encouragement we need to be His light in the dark world we live in. It is from here that we go out into our world as His representatives. Being living examples of Christ to others, showing that we are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Peter understood the importance of being reminded of the basics. “So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have” (2 Peter 1:12). And Paul even feared that the church in Corinth had been “led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Remember, if we are no different than those we come into contact with, what difference do we expect to make in the world?
Paul writes, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God—even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved” (1 Corinthians 10:31-33). Paul knew what his focus needed to be. Are we as seriously focused on loving the Lord with ALL our heart, soul, mind, and strength? And showing that love ALL the time?
The Lord Jesus said, “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work” (John 9:4). Brothers and sisters, we still have much work to do, and the time is short. When the Lord comes for His Bride, and takes us to be with Him, the night will come. Until then, I pray we will love the Lord ALL the time, as He loves us, so we can be ALL that He wants us to be.
“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind” (Philippians 2:1-2).
“But God demonstrated His love toward us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus DIED for us. Are we willing to live in loving obedience to Him as His Bride ALL the time? I pray that we are.

How many times have you heard that? I’m sure it’s too many to count. People have been saying it for hundreds of years, and without a doubt will be saying it until He returns. But the truth is, His coming is closer today than ever before. That’s not just a trite saying. Many people realize there are obvious things going on in the world today that may be pointing to His soon return. Only time will tell just how soon. But one thing is certain. God has told us He is coming again. And He has given us a fair warning, if we are listening to Him.
The following is simply an attempt to point out some of the things He has told us. I am not a prophet. I’m only sharing what the Lord has shown me in His Word to maybe help give some understanding to what He has told us. If there are some mistakes in my thinking, that’s because I’m just a person prone to error like any of us. But God is not, and His Word IS perfect. We can trust Him, and everything He has told us. I pray His Word will speak to the hearts of all who read this, and help us all to understand just how soon His coming may be. And don’t forget, He just may want to use YOU to tell others, “Jesus is coming soon!”
DANIEL’S PERFECT TIMING
When you think of Daniel in the Bible, what comes to your mind? Perhaps it’s the familiar story of Daniel being saved from the hungry lions; or maybe his three friends being saved out of the fiery furnace. Or how about the Hand of God writing on the wall? Without question, there are many great stories in the twelve chapters of Daniel. But also within those chapters you will find some of the most important prophecies in the Bible for us today, concerning the coming of the Lord.
The story of Daniel starts with him and his three friends being taken to Babylon when the Jews were removed from the land of Israel during the Babylonian captivity. He was there for seventy years, and all the events in Daniel occurred during that time. It was near the end of his time in Babylon that God gave him a prophecy that concerned a very special event in history. It was a prophecy which foretold the coming of the Messiah over 480 years before it would happen.
SEVENTY “WEEKS” ARE DETERMINED!
This prophecy is known as Daniel’s Seventy Weeks, just as they were revealed by an angel from God, to Daniel, in chapter nine. “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city” (Daniel 9:24). In this prophecy, it was foretold to Daniel the EXACT time the Messiah would be revealed to Israel. “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven ‘sevens’ and sixty-two ‘sevens'” (Daniel 9:25).
The cryptic use of the word “sevens” in this prophecy is better understood as meaning weeks of years. So these sixty-nine “weeks of years” (7 weeks and 62 weeks), would total 483 years (69 X 7). Daniel was told that it would be 483 years from the day the decree was issued, which would allow the Jews to return to Jerusalem to rebuild and restore it, until the Messiah would come! That’s pretty specific! [IMPORTANT TO NOTE: These years consist of 360 days, according to the Jewish calendar year, not 365.]
In his book The Coming Prince, Sir Robert Anderson gives all the details of how Jesus rode into Jerusalem, during the week of Passover, fulfilling the 483 years EXACTLY! This prophecy alone, should have made it unmistakably clear that Jesus was the Messiah promised by God all throughout the Old Testament Scriptures. And when He entered Jerusalem that day, the people believed He was the Messiah, and cheered Him as their Savior. There should have been no reason for ANYBODY to doubt it, especially the ones who claimed to know the Scriptures!
THE REJECTION OF THE MESSIAH
Sadly, we know that less than one week after Jesus rode into Jerusalem, to the shouts of “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” (Matthew 21:9), the people would be calling for His crucifixion. The leaders of the Pharisees, the chief priests and teachers of the law, would turn the crowd against Jesus. They felt threatened by Him and wanted to get Him out of the way. But they had no idea this was all in the plan of God. They were faithfully representing the stiff-necked, hardhearted, prophet-killers God had been dealing with since the time of the Exodus. They had become the barren fig tree that would “wither away”, no longer able to bear fruit for God. And the rest, as they say, is HIS-story!
But wait! What about the 70th Week? Wasn’t that only 69 of the 70 weeks? There’s still one week of 7 years, of 360 days each, to be accounted for, right? That’s right, and we’ll get to that in just a moment.
After Jesus entered Jerusalem to the praise of the people, the Jewish leaders had made it very clear they would not have any part in accepting Him. The Lord knew it, and He now spells it out in no uncertain terms. In the days following His Triumphal Entry, Jesus not only cleared the temple again, but He spoke against the teachers of the law and the Pharisees in unmistakable parables about them, and in His responses to their questions to trap Him (Matthew 21-22). On top of that, He also pronounced curses on them for their hypocrisy and hard hearts (Matthew 23). Their rejection of Jesus would cause Daniel’s 70th Week to be DELAYED.
THE STORY IS NOT OVER
The last “week” of seven years, would be put on hold, separated, just as it was foretold! These last seven years would be reserved for a future time of judgement that is described as “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), and will ultimately pick up exactly as God planned. His plan will NOT be derailed. And His plan will ultimately, as the angel told Daniel, “finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place” (Daniel 9:24). So now the question is, “When will that happen?”
After His entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21), and before His death on the cross, to pay the penalty for our sins (Matthew 27), we have a very interesting prophecy of Jesus recorded for us at the end of Matthew 23. In this passage, Jesus grieves over the fact of being rejected by those who should have received Him. And He knew what was going to ultimately happen as a result of their turning away from God. He laments, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate” (Matthew 23:37-38). What Jesus is saying here, is that due to their rejection of Him, God would bring judgment to the city of Jerusalem. In 70 AD the Romans would come and destroy the city and the temple, and “not leave one stone upon another”, just as Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 24:2. This is a recorded fact of history which Jesus foretold some 40 years in advance. The desolation came.
HE IS COMING AGAIN!
But perhaps the most important part of the prophecy Jesus gives us, is found in the last verse of Matthew 23. Here we have Jesus declaring, “For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord'”(Matthew 23:39). Jesus says that there will come a time when, ONCE AGAIN, the inhabitants of Jerusalem will proclaim, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”, just as they did when He rode into the city on His first entry during PASSOVER!
Don’t miss the importance of this! This is an event that is still to come! Jesus is telling us He will return to the same place, a SECOND time, to fulfill what didn’t happen, the FIRST time. And I’m thinking, if He is going to fulfill Daniel’s 70th Week, doesn’t it make sense that when He returns to Jerusalem, He will pick it up where it left off, also during PASSOVER? It does to me. But whenever it happens, one thing we can know for sure, is Jesus WILL return to Jerusalem to complete and fulfill the 70th Week of Daniel. However, when He comes this time, He will be received and acknowledged as the rightful heir to the throne as King! And not just as King over Israel, but over the whole world!
SEVEN YEARS OF TERROR!
Now, although many people are looking forward to the day when Jesus will return to earth to restore our fallen world, I must remind everyone, this day will only come following a time of terrifying events and God’s ultimate judgement upon the world. Jesus will come again to Jerusalem at the END of Daniel’s last seven year “week”. It is only then, that the Lord will return to the earth.
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:29-30).
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:11-16).
“Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south” (Zechariah 14:3-4).
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
“For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:31).
Jesus rode into Jerusalem 2,000 years ago alone on a donkey. The next time He rides into Jerusalem He will be on a white horse followed by the armies of heaven. The first time He came as the Passover Lamb of God, who would provide the sacrifice for the sins of the world. The next time He will come as the Lion of Judah, the eternal King who conquered sin and death. The first time He came as a lowly child in a manger. The next time He will come as the Lord God Almighty, to judge the world.
CAN WE KNOW WHEN?
Many people are at least somewhat familiar with the basics of this story of Christ’s return. But the question is always asked, “Can we know when all this will happen?” Well, if we believe Jesus returns to pick up the story where it left off, when He came into Jerusalem during Passover, then isn’t the celebration of Passover (as already noted) the likely time to restart the plan and begin His reign as the KING OF KINGS? Now I know I’m speculating here, but IF that is the case, the soonest that could happen would be during Passover Week of 2029, which is from March 30th to April 7th. If we take the Jewish calendar into consideration, that is a little over seven Jewish years, of 360 days, away.
You might be wondering, why is Passover of 2029 so important? Well, this possible time frame, for His return, also fits within the generation that Jesus said wouldn’t pass until it sees all these things fulfilled. “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:32-35).
WHAT GENERATION IS THIS TALKING ABOUT?
So can we know what a generation actually is? In Psalm 90:10 God may be telling us: “Our days may come to SEVENTY YEARS, or EIGHTY, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.” And WHO might this “generation” apply to? I believe it’s specifically the generation of Jews that are alive at the time God brings fulfillment to all the things Jesus foretold, culminating in His glorious return. Remember, He is returning to Jerusalem, and the people of Israel! And did the Lord make sure that we could clearly recognize this specific generation of Jews? I believe He did.
On May 14, 1948, the nation of Israel was reborn, fulfilling Isaiah 66:8, “Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?” The answer is YES! Israel will celebrate its 80th birthday in the year 2028, and will remain 80 until it turns 81, in May of 2029. This also fits the time frame mentioned earlier for His possible return during Passover week of March 30th to April 7th of 2029! Just weeks before Israel’s 81st birthday!
Many may quote Jesus as saying, “No one knows the day or the hour, but only the Father” (Matthew 24:36). But in that passage He connects that statement with a coming time of sudden destruction that no one can know when it hits, just like when the flood came “in the days of Noah” (Matthew 24:37-39), NOT His return at the Second Coming. We just saw that Jesus coming back to earth FOLLOWS the time known as the Tribulation, which covers an exact period of seven years! Clearly, there is something Jesus was referring to that He wanted us to be aware of that would come BEFORE the start of the time of Tribulation. Why else would He tell us to be looking up “when these things begin to take place” (Luke 21:28)? And indeed there is something, and it’s could be the most exciting news you’ve ever heard!
But before we dig into that, I want to make sure it is clear what the “Return of Jesus Christ” refers to, because it is crucial. What I’ve described so far is the time when Jesus comes back to the earth to physically rule over the earth from Jerusalem. Like I’ve pointed out, this comes at the conclusion of what is known as the Tribulation, which is an exact seven year period of time when God will bring judgement on the earth. We can read the specific details about this in Revelation, chapters 6-19, along with many other passages in both the Old and the New Testaments. The question that must be answered, is “Why must this time of judgement happen?”
WHY MUST THE TRIBULATION HAPPEN?
To put it simply, this judgement comes as a result of SIN which entered the world back in the Garden, when Satan caused Adam and Eve to disobey God by his lies and deception. And from the time of Adam’s fall, the curse of sin has been passed on to everyone who has ever lived. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The result of man’s fallen condition has caused gross sin and death for thousands of years, with the pinnacle of man’s sinfulness being the crucifixion of Jesus by the Jews and the Romans. Yet, even though this travesty was ordained by God, the Lord must come to bring judgment for all sin, because He is a just and holy God. But don’t forget, He loves all sinners. And because of God’s great love for all of us, Jesus came, according to God’s plan, to die on the cross and make it possible for us to be forgiven by faith in His sacrifice for us. “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7). “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
The reason God has done all this, is because He does NOT want anyone to go through the judgement of the Tribulation that is coming against the devil and those who have rejected Him in unbelief. The Good News is that He has provided the way of escape. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:16-18). “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
THE KEY TO BEING RESCUED FROM ALL THIS
Please take note of what God is telling us here. The key to being saved from the coming Tribulation, is to change your mind about what you really believe. It’s called “repentance”! I know people don’t like hearing that word, but please understand what it really means. Repentance is turning from unbelief to believing that the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY to remove the condemnation for our sin, to save us from the coming judgment, and to give us New Life! It’s changing your mind about who God is and, by faith, believing in what He has done for you. It is only by turning to God by faith in Christ that we become “children of God” (John 1:12), and join with all those who have also received the love of the Father (1 John 3:1), “and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath” (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Did you hear that? Jesus rescues us FROM the coming wrath! That’s not just Good News, it is GREAT news!
The apostle Paul describes when that rescue comes. “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10).
OUR COMING TRIP TO PARIDISE
This incredible event is known as the Rapture, and is the exciting news I mentioned earlier. It is the day Jesus comes to rescue His church from the coming Tribulation!Much like God saving Noah and his family from the flood by lifting them up in the ark, or rescuing His chosen people from their enemies in the Exodus during Passover, the Lord’s plan is to save His Bride, the church, and take us home to be with Him in heaven. This will be the most exciting trip we will ever take!
So when does this “rescue” occur? The answer to that question is really quite simple. If we are promised to be saved “from the coming wrath”, the rescue has to come BEFORE that time comes. In other words, before the seven year time of Tribulation, or “the day of the Lord”, begins.
“For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober” (2 Thessalonians 5:2-6).
No matter how you may want to look at it, the signs are telling us that day is very near. Jesus said, “Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door” (Matthew 24:33). If we take to heart the warning from Jesus that it is important to “discern the signs of the times”, and we can see “the beginning of birth pains” in “wars and rumors of wars”, “nations against nations”, “plagues, and earthquakes in various places” (Matthew 24:6-8), then we should be well aware that something is coming soon. And we should all take the Lord’s command to heart and BE READY! “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:44).
Now here’s something to think about. And let me start by saying, this is just my own bit of speculation based on what I’ve mentioned. But I think you might find it interesting. Now, if Jesus were to have His second Triumphal Entry on the last day of Passover, on April 7th, 2029, which would be at the end of the seven year (or 2520 days) Tribulation, and you subtract 2520 days from April 7th of 2029, that would place the beginning of the Tribulation, the “Time of Jacob’s Trouble”, on MAY 14th, 2022! That would be Israel’s 74th Birthday, NEXT MONTH! Wow! And if that’s a possible time for when the Tribulation could start, then how close might we be to the Rapture? Could the Lord have something special in store for us soon? Who knows? I’m NOT setting any date! Only the Father knows when Jesus is coming for His Bride. But one thing is for sure, no matter when it is, the Rapture will happen. He IS coming for us! And I say “Amen” to that!
ARE YOU READY?
So, the big question is, “How can you be sure you will be rescued from the coming Tribulation on the earth?” How can YOU be ready? There is only ONE way. By believing in Jesus Christ and putting your faith and trust in what He has done for you. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Those are His words.
Paul writes, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10). “For, ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:13). Sound too good to be true? It’s not! That’s why it’s called the Good News! It’s God’s gift to us, and we only have to accept it. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!” (Acts 4:12).
HAVE YOU RECEIVED HIS GIFT?
If you have received God’s gift of forgiveness by believing in Christ’s death on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, you will be included when He comes to receive His Bride, the church, and bring us home before the Tribulation begins. Believing in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ secures your place with every other believer in His church, and whether you are alive or dead, He will rescue us all from the coming wrath. It’s His gift to show us how much He loves us, and it’s a promise. He is preparing a wedding banquet for us all, and it will be a time of great celebration! I pray everyone who reads this has accepted God’s gift of forgiveness in their hearts. If you have yet to do so, you can do it right now. Trust what He has said, and tell Him you believe He died for you. Send Him your “RSVP”. Don’t wait any longer. Jesus IS coming soon! “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

Brothers and sisters, the church is in peril. No, not in the sense that it will “perish” as stated above, for Jesus said “the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). However, a recent disturbing study has shown that only 3 percent of “Christians” read their Bibles 4 or more times a week! I wonder how many are reading 7 days a week? This begs the question, “Would anybody intentionally not eat for a day or more for no reason?” Of course not. We all need physical food and water to live! But that apparently doesn’t seem to connect with many when it comes to their spiritual lives. Did we forget that Jesus is “the bread of life” (John 6:35), and the source of “living water” (John 7:38)? How can ANY believer live without that?
Not only are believers not reading the Word of God, but they are also forsaking the true fellowship in the gathering of the church, which results in abandoning our corporate prayer, petitioning God to help us all not to fall into the “temptation” of neglect. We are in a serious battle, my friends. God has promised He will never leave us or forsake us, but if we don’t keep our eyes on Him, we WILL sink, just like Peter did. The race is NOT over, but many are stopping short of Finish Line. “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever” (1 Corinthians 9:24-25). “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Satan knows his time is growing short (Revelation 12:12), and he is pulling out all the stops to prevent us from completing our mission. The time is now to turn back to what we all know is the most important thing. Yes, it’s time to REPENT brothers and sisters. If we don’t, we lose. Don’t give up now. The finish line is in sight, if we take the time to look for it. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:9-10). “And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8). So don’t forget to, “Look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28)!
Lord, we ask Your forgiveness for our sin of neglect, regardless of how small it may seem. All around us we see that the clock is coming closer each day to the time of Your return. Help us to keep our eyes on You and the work You have given us to do. Thank You for the great love You have shown us and the blessing of including us in Your Kingdom. You have never given up on us. Help us to not give up on You. May all we do be for Your glory and honor, on that Day when You appear. Amen!

“Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” – Revelation 20:6
Believers in Jesus around the world are looking forward to the day we will reign with Him with great anticipation. But how can we be sure we have the right answer to getting there? Well, let’s do the math.
His Low-Key Arrival
When Jesus came the first time how did it come about? We all know the story of His miraculous birth, but who knew at the time what really happened? It was only the relatively small number of people who knew God was about to do something very special. Obviously Mary and Joseph knew what was happening, as an angel of the Lord (Matthew 1:20-24) and the angel Gabriel (Luke 1:26-38) had told them what was going to happen.
His birth was also announced to the shepherds and they went to witness His arrival (Luke 2:8-20). The Maji (wise men from the East) had obviously been watching for His coming, resulting in them being led by the star from their distant land (Matthew 2:1-2). At the temple in Jerusalem, Simeon had been told by the Holy Spirit he would see the Lord’s Messiah, and Anna, a prophetess also in the temple, confirmed Jesus as the coming Redeemer (Luke 2:25-38). Other than this small group of people, the arrival of Jesus into the world would not become well known for about 30 uneventful and relatively peaceful years. We could say this first “stage” of His first coming only involved those who were watching and waiting for Him.
His Unexpected Appearance
That was not the case for the second “stage”. After His public baptism and the start of His ministry with His 12 disciples, followers of Jesus grew to great numbers as we see in the feeding of the multitudes on at least two occasions along with many other events during His ministry. This continued for almost three years, and was leading to the most important event in history. When Christians celebrate Palm Sunday, we are remembering the day Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem when He received the praises of the multitudes who recognized Him as the Messiah shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” (John 12:13). There were so many people who were believing in Jesus as the Messiah, the religious leaders felt threatened and were determined to remove this unexpected threat.
Less than a week later, they had coerced the crowds and the shouts of praises turned to demands of execution, and their rejected King, the Lord of Glory was sacrificed for our sins just as the Scriptures foretold. “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:2-4). Jesus rose from the dead, just as He had said (see John 2:19-22), and 40 days later ascended back to heaven (see Acts 1:3-9), back to the Father.
But that’s only half the equation, for Jesus promised He would “come again”!
His Remarkable Promise
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” – John 14:2-3
Here Jesus tells us that He was going away, but that He would “come again” to bring us to WHERE HE WAS! This promise by Jesus begins the two stage process of His return, and it will be profoundly different from His first coming. This promise from our Lord was confirmed, in greater detail, by Paul when he wrote to the believers in Thessalonica.
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
This future event is known as the Rapture, or catching away, of the Church. Here Jesus returns, as He promised, FOR His own: those who have believed in Him, and His finished work on the cross, as the one and only sacrifice for their sins. When this happens the only people it will affect will be those who have been watching and waiting for this moment to come for almost 2,000 years, “born again” believers in Jesus Christ (see John 3:3-7). This is the first “stage” of His second coming, just like when Jesus came to us in Bethlehem unexpected by the world. Yes, I’m pretty sure it won’t go unnoticed by many people in the world. But fabricating some fantastic explanation for what has happened won’t be hard, given the ease with which people seem to believe false news in our world today.
His Glorious Intervention
This will then usher in a time that will be far worse than can be imagined, for evil will have free range in the world. It will be so bad the Lord even said He will have to stop it before it destroys the whole world.
“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” – Matthew 24:21-22
And He will do just that! At the end of this time of tribulation, Jesus will accomplish the second “stage” and return to the earth WITH those who He came for at the Rapture. But unlike His being rejected as the King the first time, this time will be VERY different!
“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” – Matthew 24:27
“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.” – Mark 13:26
“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” – Revelation 1:7
“He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” – Revelation 19:13-16
His Ultimate Fulfillment
And when this happens, Jesus will have fulfilled every prophecy of His 2 stage First Coming, AND His 2 stage Second Coming! He will then will reign as King over the whole earth for 1,000 years in His glorious Kingdom.
2 X 2 = 1,000! I love Kingdom Math! How about you?
That brings me back to our opening passage: “Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” – Revelation 20:6
I will get right to the point. Will YOU be reigning with Him during that time? If you have not believed in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, this equation is not a favorable one for you. But you can change that right now.
His Invitation To The Kingdom
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:8-10
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” – Revelation 22:17

In case you haven’t noticed, there are a lot of troubling things going on in the world, and the list is growing longer with each day. But what has the Lord told us?
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:1-3
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
And until that time comes, we “wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.” – 1 Thessalonians 1:10
Do you ever wonder if this could be true? Well, what did you just read? What did Jesus say? If you “believe in God; believe also in me”! That’s the ONLY question that needs your honest answer. And if you say you believe, here is what you should know.
Jesus said there would be events that would precede His coming to “rescue” us, that would be like “birth pains” (Matthew 24:8), meaning, the closer the time comes, the more frequent these events will happen and with increasing intensity.
“Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” – Luke 21:10-11
“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” – Luke 21:25-26
There are many other indicators recorded in God’s Word that reveal what is coming, and just like watching for the sun to come up, the Light is revealing more to us each day. You may not pay attention to what is going on everywhere in the world, but even with the little bit we do see, you can tell something is seriously going on. The most important thing to understand is, are you ready for Jesus to save YOU from what is yet to come?
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” – Luke 21:28
If right now you’re asking, how can I be sure that I will be rescued from what will ultimately happen?The answer is, you know how, because the answer has been given to us! But just in case you’ve forgotten, here it is right from the source Himself.
” ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’ For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ ” – Romans 10:8-13
If this describes you, then you truly have “nothing to worry about”. But if not, then please ask yourself, “What am I waiting for?”
“For he says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” – 2 Corinthians 6:2
Your response can be as simple as Peter’s, “Lord, save me!” And he will.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” – John 3:16-18

The heart of man is presented to us in Scripture as a theater that draws the attention of the holy angels and of the Lord himself.
